Biography
Prof. Sailas Benjamin - a young and renowned industrial and environmental biotechnologist with 41 h-index and over 7500 citations - is currently engaged as the Director of Research at the University of Calicut. Being a project leader, Prof. Benjamin has published several research papers in international (123) and national (91) journals of high repute, and 62 industrially-significant novel bacteria/fungi were discovered and characterized; apart from 11 patents and 2 books to his credit. He is one of the pioneering researchers pertaining to the bioremediation of hazardous phthalates. He is the recipient of many national and international awards, and also the recipient of prestigious PDFs from Germany (DFG), Japan (STA) and Research Fellowships from India (CSIR/DBT).
