Biography

P.H.Ramanjini Gowda is Professor and Coordinator Department of Plant Biotechnology, University of Agricultural Sciences, G.K.V.K., Bangalore, INDIA, Received his Ph.D. in Horticulture in 1985 from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and another Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Kuvempu University, Shimoga, 2007. He has conducted post doctoral research at Tuskegee University, Alabama, USA .Under National Science Academy Fellowship he did research on tissue culture of Horticulture crops at Wye college London and Horticulture International,Welsbourne,U.K. Undergone several training programmes in Horticulture and molecular biology at U.S.A., U.K.,Italy, Israel including specialized training on vegetable crops at Netherlands. He possesses an Indian process patent for production of rabies glycoprotein in Muskmelon. He has guided 42 M.Sc. students and 8 Ph.D students. He has been awarded Sir. C.V. Raman Award for young scientists in the year 1997 instituted by the Karnataka State Government for the outstanding Agriculture scientists and also recipient of “Best Research worker award” from the Tuskegee University, USA. He has received Nagamma Dattatreya Rao Desai Award in 2013 for his outstanding contribution to Agriculture. He has collaborations with several international institutes. He has published more than 75 Research papers and 33 research articles in national and international journals. He is recognized as one of the pioneers in edible vaccine production in Plants.
