Biography
P B Kirti completed his PhD from the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, India in 1979 and joined the Indian Agricultural Research (ICAR) and worked as a Scientist in various capacities at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, particularly at the National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology till December 1998. In 1999, he has joined the University of Hyderabad as a Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences and headed it between 2004-2007. he is a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of India, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of India, and a Fellow of Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences, Elected Fellow-Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology Association of India, Visiting FAO Scientist at the Ohio State Biotechnology Center-Columbus, USA and a Visiting Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia. His primary research interests include plant genetic manipulation.
