Dr. Sukanta Mondal is currently working as Principal Scientist at ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bangalore, India. He received his Ph. D. in 2006 from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, India and did postdoctoral assignment from University of Laval, Canada. He has been working in the field of molecular endocrinology, reproductive genomics and stress physiology for last 20 yrs. His major research interests includes maternal recognition of pregnancy, cloning, characterization and expression of genes, molecular characterization and expression of hormone receptors, understanding of mechanism that regulate ovarian follicular development etc. He has published over 55 papers in various National and International journals of repute and delivered invited lectures in different conference throughout the country. He has been bestowed with several fellowships including National Scholarship, Government of India, S J Jindal Trust fellowship, Junior Research Fellowship (NDRI) and Senior Research Fellowship (IVRI). Dr. Mondal’s work in hormone receptor and buffalo genomics has been recognized nationally and has received several prestigious awards like Rashtriya Gaurav award (2014), Prof. G. P. Talwar Midcareer Scientist award (2014), Prof. G. K. Pal award (2013), Fellow of Indian Chemical Society (2013), Fellow of Society for Applied Biotechnology (2012), Fellow of Indian Association of BioMedical Scientitsts (2010), Dr. K. Anji Reddy award (2011), Prof. P. B. Sen Memorial Oration award (2008), Biotechnology Overseas Associateship award (Long term, 2007-08), ISSRF Young Scientist Award (2006), Indian Science Congress Association Award (2002; 2007) etc.
